Long Time No See

Oh boy, oh boy! Well, what can I say?

Long Time No see?

It certainly has been a long time since I've touched the keyboard to attach a post to my forgotten little site. You see, I have been extremely busy doing absolutely, well nothing really. The truth is, I am one lazy writer and trying to put my thoughts or remembrances down have been put off until the following week. Unfortunately that week keeps eluding me getting further and further away, by then my week has morphed into a month. The little bugger of procrastination developed into more than a month and grew into months until I eventually caught the little man sitting on the couch watching The Hobbit and gave him a quick boot up the ass to get the DANSER out of him and with that subtle persuasive action I guess I had to start writing again.

So, here I am! Putting letters down to form words that have no real baring on the state of the world but rather just some happenings of a little girl who has a clueless father.

Hard At It!

I must admit a few things did happen in the months I had been hard at it. I shall be brief in getting you all (reader of 2) caught up in the world of Raising Amelie.

October 2012- December 2012: We were almost in a state of homelessness due to the owners of the abode we occupy wishing to sell. Within the 2 months we searched and searched for a new house to no avail, always missing out to others until as fortune would have it an investor bought the very home we live in and we could stay. Glad that was over!

Almost Our New Residence
Celebrating with an ice-cream, sounds good. Just try and get some in the mouth.

MMMMM
December 2012- January 2013: After unpacking boxes we had already packed for the imminent move, Christmas was upon us. Amelie pre-schooling has gone well and has made some special friends. Of course being in school means Parents need to attend certain events around this time of year especially.

Orchestral?
After which. The tree was decorated, gifts were ready to be ripped open, all was good in our small world. After the presents were ravaged, let's just say the household is now all Apple'd up with iPhones, iPads and a new Macbook Pro (Mine!). My little tech head wasn't left out as she received from yours truly an iPad Mini. She has a better handle of its workings than I do. Glad that was over!

Happy Happy
January- February 2013: After the excitement of Clauses' visit had died down the 25th of January arrived and that day happens to be my little Daughters Big Day. She turned 5 though she already seemed far older and wiser than that number might suggest. After the cake and the presents were ravaged my little computer nerd had an excuse to spend more time outdoors as now she had her own swing as well as a water feature.

Ready

Go

Slide
February 2013- March 2013: Finally the time came for my little academic to attend school full time. Amelie is gone 5 days a week, 7 and a half hours a day. My days are simpler yet a little emptier. The good thing is that she is enjoying all that she is now learning and soon she will be able to give me lessons in all things intellectual. Can't wait!

How Do We Look?

So what can I say? Long Time No See? No I don't think so. What about Glad To Be Back? Yes, that's better methinks. And if the Danser strikes once more and I do lose my way again, I now have a special map to guide me back home to my "Precioussssss"

Zoo Danser

It's been a long, long time between posts I know, and that is probably caused by my brain being wired to underachieve. As it's no doubt known, laziness is caused by the amount of dopamine—a neurotransmitter involved with memory, processing emotions, and motivation—in certain brain regions that determines if someone is a go-getter or a slacker!

So, lacking in dopamine—a neurotransmitter, D-A-N-S-E-R for short, makes me the aforementioned Slacker.

Being a "DANSER" has made me uncoordinated in processing my emotions and has certainly prevented the motivation for those certain brain regions to move and thereby impeding my ability in adding anything here since the last post.

That said,  I decided by someone else telling me, it would be a good idea that we go to the zoo. Why? I don't really know... Anyway, we did.

I won't say much other than it was a long day, especially being my Highnesses official Charioteer as well as being my Queens Chancellery, opening the coffers for those whims of assorted sordid ice-cream delicacies and such.

None of which I'll show here, I was the ...

The Charioteer

The Lifter

What's That in the Back?
Ahhh, MAYBE HE'LL HELP
Glad You Arrived
HELP ME PLEASE
Hold It Right There
OH
There He Goes, Cheers!
Well, I guess it's just up to me to continue being the mule... so off we go then.

WHERE ARE WE?
Sit Back and Enjoy the Ride
It seemed like I took a wrong turn and stepped through a time vortex landing us, by the look of these, in Jurassic Park.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS
What?
I KNOW WHAT THAT IS THOUGH
Aha!
IT'S A PTERODACTYL
Extinct Not
SOME PRIMITIVE MAMMAL THING
Koala
A CERATOPS OF SOME KIND
Mate!
AND A SABRETOOTH KITTY MINUS THE SABREs
Cutie
Obviously there were many more animals my paleontologist and her man servant (me) saw and we did have a marvellous time. After leaving the Zoo my happy girl had a swing in a playground and ran around a bit on the grass collecting flowers until...

RUN
Be Free
SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN THE CHARIOT
Oopsy

And a happy ending it seemed, oh my. Well this DANSAR is going now as I've lost the motivation to continue.

Moment in Time

this moment – A Friday ritual. A photo/s capturing a moment from the week that may or may not have words. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment you want to pause, savour and remember.

There's Something about Jim

It's been a long time since my last post and I have no reason except to say, I am one lazy blob of a man. But that's neither here nor there really, is it? So follow me as there's something about Jim I need to elaborate on.

In the past three or so weeks since acquiring Chickens which I posted about in the post, Chicken Run, one fowl seems to be the only one doing its job. I'm not complaining as an egg a day is better than none in my omelette. This giver of yolk seemed the most unlikely of the Brood to be supplying us with such bounty considering it was given the name 'Jim'. I thought he/ she would have been a little confused but no, the only one confused is me as I can't help calling Jim a he.

Jim the hen has managed to lay every day for the last two weeks but not in it's hen house which by the way, is a converted dog house of our illustrious, chickens beware, hunter of hunting dogs, Maximus. No, Jim has other ideas on where it should lay and that is under a bush below the bathroom window. I am still not complaining, as an egg in a bush is better than none in my pancake.

Or as in the photo below... in Amelie's hands.

There's something about Jim other than his, I mean her laying abilities and that is he, I mean she also has a unique personality. It will follow you around and talk to you when it wants something or just for a chat and seems to be always in your face.

Who's in Your Face?
As you can see in the background other than my Little Handler, is our predator Maximus' old abode which he doesn't miss in the slightest and to be honest prefers the finer things in life like couches or beds when no ones looking. Speaking of our killer dog, we've had nothing but trouble concerning him and Jim as both are now in cahoots in seeing who can dig the biggest hole in the quickest time or who can eat each others food first. You heard it right, Maximus and Jim are friends. What happened to the Order of the Wild?

What Can We Do Now?

I don't know what it is but there is certainly Something About Jim.

Waz Up!

Chicken Run

It seems we have certain additions to the family. Four more to be exact. In a week there will be no need to go and buy eggs as my little farmhand has purchased chickens.

Out of the four hens, two seem to have the same name now, can you guess what name that would be? I'll give you a hint, the names are spelt the same way as the aforementioned farmhand. Yes, two out of the four chickens are now called Amelie! I'm no expert but there is something confusing about that.

I'm not much of a farmer either, in any way, shape or form so I'll just leave the cleaning, feeding and the Raising Amelie's to others of the household. I'll just enjoy the fresh omelettes that will surely come to my plate.

On the other hand, Amelie is so excited to have these fowl that she just can't keep her hands off them, to the point that I don't see them having any chance to lay anything that doesn't resemble poo. Which, by the way is gross and another chore I will not be involved with in cleaning up.

What's her Name?

Another member of the family seems to be excited about having chickens and that one is Maximus but I'm guessing more as a ready made meal on the run . Oh yeah our Wily Coyote seems unable to venture far from the Amelie's who will supply my bounty. He seems to be licking his chops a bit more than usual.

Drats! Foiled again.

Yet they seem to be safe in their enclosure at night and unless Maximus comes up with some devilishly clever plan involving dynamite and a boulder I'm pretty certain they will be ok.

Mmmmmm I can smell the quiche now. When they will actually give me what I want is another question entirely.

Lay, You chickens, lay!"

She'll have to let them go first

Who is leading whom?

Walkies!
Who is leading whom I wonder. I really don't know who will tire first. Probably me trying to keep up.

A Vet

Amelie at 4 and a half knows what she wants to do. Yes! You may have guessed by the heading, if not, oh well you may need to take another IQ Test. Just saying...

Yes, Mimi wants to be a Vet! I have no idea why as she annoys our poor Maximus to the Max! Maybe that is the way? As you have to really punish an animal to appreciate what he really feels and understands. Yet I doubt it.

Well, to be a vet she will need after year 12... grades of 98.2. Yet for medical science a grade of 95.45.. what the? Also she needs to study and pass English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Ummmm do animals speak English? Or know Maths? Oh well she will need to work out the mass of the animal in proportion to the drug you pump or water you will wash them in, I suppose. Biology is a given (hopefully all sorts of animals), Chemistry, no clue there. And Physics woo hoo, good luck there ... my baby vet girl! I will be of no use.

But why a vet? Well she justs loves animals, yes she does. Take Maximus... Please... anyone?

Anyone?

Not only does her brain need to be switched on to be a vet, but the selection process also checks if she has full use of her hands and fingers, are able to stand for lengthy periods, have high observation skills and an eye for detail.

Other requirements are being interested in animals, their health and wellbeing, being a good organiser and being able to talk to people. And lastly....Five years study.

After 13 years of school... another 5 years? Oh bugger me....

Anyway she looks the part, methinks.
Go for it I say.

Is it Snow?

Is it snow? NO but close enough.

You see being down here we don't get to go skiing very often as there is a lack of the white fluffy stuff around. So the next best thing... an indoor ice rink with faux white fluffy stuff.

It's the first time my Yeti has seen or touched it and it probably will be a long time until she gets to see the real thing. She did enjoy it though as you can see we managed to make a faux snowman.

Faux Man!
